How much flooring do I need?

Everything you need to buy the right amount the first time — measuring, waste, dye lots, and the questions every first-time flooring buyer asks.

How do I figure out how many boxes I need?

Measure length x width for total square feet, add a waste factor (10% for a straight lay, 15% diagonal, up to 20% herringbone), then divide by the coverage per box and round up. Our calculator on every product page does it for you — just enter your room size.

Why do I need extra — isn't that wasteful?

That extra box isn't waste, it's your repair kit. Cuts around doorways and walls eat material, and keeping 1-2 sealed boxes means a future repair matches perfectly.

What's a dye lot, and will my floor match?

Flooring is made in batches (dye lots) that can vary slightly in shade. Buy your whole job at once so it all comes from one lot, and keep spares sealed — a reorder months later may not match. With live in-stock counts, you can see we have enough to cover your whole room from one batch.

Do I need to let the flooring acclimate?

Yes. Leave the boxes flat in the room where they'll be installed for 48-72 hours so the planks adjust to your home's temperature and humidity before installing.

Do you offer pickup?

Yes — free local pickup at our Franklin warehouse, usually the same day. Order online, we'll pull it, and you grab it. Bring a truck, SUV, or trailer for big orders and we'll help load.

Are you a real MSI dealer?

Yes, Floorstock is an authorized MSI Surfaces dealer. MSI doesn't sell to the public directly, so this is genuine first-quality MSI flooring at outlet pricing.

Do you install flooring?

We're a cash-and-carry flooring outlet — we sell the material at contractor prices so you (or your installer) can skip the showroom markup. We don't install, but our team is happy to talk through what you'll need.

Can I return leftover boxes?

Inspect your order before you leave or within 24 hours — we replace anything defective or damaged free. Opened, cut, or installed flooring can't be returned, which is why we help you order the right amount up front. Got sealed boxes left over? Give us a call and we'll talk through your options.
